Do you believe in evolution? Yes or No.
Somehow the close decendent of a knuckle dragger got this question asked to the Republican presidential candidates. A proper response would have been “Have you stopped beating your wife? Yes or no.” What does it mean to believe in “Evolution?” If you say yes you’re agreeing to God merely being a spectator as all life evolved from a common ancestor. This is obviously not what Christians believe. So the answer for them should be “no” correct?
Well, if you say no, then you’re saying that life doesn’t change. You’re saying you don’t believe in “adaptation.” So the answer isn’t “no” either. The problem is that “Evolution” encompasses scientific fact with fantasy loosly based on science. Those who want to believe they came from knuckle draggers can’t seperate the two. So to them, it’s a “yes or no” question.
And that’s why they ask stupid questions. Their capacity to reason and think for themselves has not yet “evolved.” They can’t understand that evolution is not all or nothing because it encompasses so many different ideas. Their religion simply dictactes that what scientists says is truth.
I don’t know what a “no” vote means, nor do I know what a “yes” vote means. The question is too vague and stupid. But that won’t stop people from asking it.
