The current Cubia was pretty much just a test to see if I could mirror Wikipedia on a GoDaddy account. It only has about 2.7 million articles and you can get stuck on redirect pages since Wikipedia is case-sensitive but Cubia is not.

A recent dump of Wikipedia now has over 4.5 million articles and Cubia 2.0 is case sensitive so you will no longer get stuck. I’m currently in the process of uploading all the files to the GoDaddy account. The next step is setting up the database and then filling it up with the pages. The whole process will probably take all week. GoDaddy caps the upload limit to about 65KBps and there are nearly 10GB of files that are being uploaded.

Also coming to Cubia is the ability to register an account and submit your own pages. I’m still researching options for creating an easy to use page editor.

The Free Speech Zone has been dumped. The Open Directory mirror has been dumped as well since Google decided to block ads on one of my domains because of the “adult” section in DMOZ. Meanwhile there are no shortage of ads for “adult” search terms on Google. What a bunch of jerks. DMOZ is just links. Kind of like Google search results.

Anyway, I’ve decided to streamline my sites. Cubia is going to take over my wiki and the Free Speech Zone. Soon you’ll be able to create an account and post whatever you want.

Cubia has been completely redesigned and it’s not done yet. Free Ringtone Heaven is also going to get a make over. This page is going to get a make over. We’ll see how things go in the coming months.
