The Directory

The Directory

This directory is completely free to submit to and requires no reciprical link. You don’t have to worry about picking the right category either. I don’t care. The purpose of the site is to get you more search engine credibility. Not to be user friendly.

Since I was lucky and had a mySQL based version of DMOZ created before the content drive crashed, I didn’t entirely lose that site. The database is on a seperate drive from the content. There’s a bit of work lef t to do before I release it but it should be out by this weekend. I just don’t see the point in leaving that money maker collecting dust. That’s also why I resurrected DevCenter which is now called M.I.S.C.

If something makes more money than is required in operational costs there’s no reason to shut it down. I also like rebuilding sites because it gives me a chance to try and learn new things.

Misc

Misc

Misc will be a huge collection of source code for various things. And maybe some other neat things as well. We’ll see.

My New Toy

The KUCeNSKI Chemisty Site

Whenever I have a class which requires rediculous amounts of memorization I write a program instead of killing trees in the process of making flash cards. Especially when I’m expected to memorize hundreds of things.

There are plenty of chemistry sites out there but I decided I should just go ahead and make my own since that way I can do whatever I want. Currently there are a couple quizes set up for testing your knowledge of the elements and various chemical compounds.

There will be some other nifty toys coming in the future. Enjoy!

Zarqawi Running Away from Who?

Zarqawi was reported to have muttered something and tried to get off the stretcher he was on. It’s assumed he was trying to get away from the troops hauling his soon to be carcus away.

Everyone knows about near death experiences involving angles and the light. What people don’t realize though is that there are also stories about near death experiences where people were going to hell.

I imagine that while on the stretcher Zarqawi wasn’t trying to get away from the troops. He was more likely trying to get away from the demons hauling his God forsaken (literally) soul away. I’m sure some may be offended at this notion and would rather believe he’s up in heaven with 72 eternal virgins. Instead of being offended, those people should be more worried about where they’re going to end up.

Those aren’t 72 virgin humans or angels or anything pleasant. Those would be 72 virgin demons and I’m sure they’ll be glad to see those who continue on the same path as Zarqawi. Here’s a hint: any religion that promises sex in heaven as the great reward, rather than simply being with God, is highly suspicious. Especially if killing people is a way to get the reward.

So much for that idea

Since Microsoft did away with the XBM graphics format used by Javascript to render dynamic images, I decided to create a version of Wolf5K that uses a table with X by Y cells to represent the screen. Each cell represents a pixel and the color of the cell was changed to render the graphics. This was successful and it was playable at a 32×32 resolution on FireFox. It’s not playable on IE because it’s too slow.

I then fired up FireFox and tried to view the original tutorials on this site. It runs them just fine. I think FireFox removed the XBM format previously but it’s there now with the latest release.

So in summary, IE doesn’t support XBM and the alternate method which works on FireFox is too slow on IE. So I won’t bother posting the source for the alternate version.

If you don’t have FireFox and would like to view the JavaScript 3D tutorials in the “Real Time Software Rendering Section” click the “Get FireFox” botton off to the left.

No so surprisingly, after a quick check, FireFox has still failed to fix their caching problem. As a result the JavaScript 3D tutorials still don’t render properly in FireFox. The only browser known to support them at any point was Internet Explorer. Wolf5K sort of works with FireFox.
